At Stocker Subaru in State College, PA, we believe in being prepared for anything that happens while on the road. Although you can't predict when a blown tire can happen, it's never too early to learn how to change one. The first step is to pull to a flat area where the car can be lifted safely with your jack.
Once the car has been lifted, you can then loosen the lug nuts and take the wheel off of the car. Then, you take your donut or spare tire and place it where the old wheel used to be.
Then, you tighten the lug nuts and slowly lower the car to the ground. If the new tire matches the others already on the car, you can drive away. Otherwise, you'll need to head to a service station to have a new permanent tire put on the vehicle.
