The Palmer Museum of Art Undergoes Renovation This Summer - Visit Now Until April 30

 

If you haven’t yet visited the Palmer Museum of Art, you’re in for a treat. Admission is free. Our Stocker Subaru staff highly recommends you check out this wonderful local resource. You may have noticed its dramatic architecture on Penn State’s University Park. It features 11 galleries, a print study room, 150-seat auditorium and a garden for large-scale contemporary sculpture. 

Eight of the 11 galleries at the #PalmerMuseumofArt display art from the museum’s permanent collection which includes more than 8,200 objects. The permanent collection includes American and European paintings, drawings, photographs, prints, and sculptures. You’ll also find contemporary European and Japanese studio ceramics, Asian ceramics, jades, paintings, prints and objects from ancient European, African, and Near Eastern cultures. 

The museum presents an exciting schedule of nine rotating exhibitions in the remaining three galleries. More than 100 annual museum programs and events for children and adults occur throughout the year. 

The three special exhibits on display until April 31 are works by photographer Eva Watson-Schütze, a colleague of Alfred Stieglitz; Philadelphia artist and printmaker, Morris Blackburn; and A Kaleidoscope of Color: Studio Glass at The Palmer which features newly acquired works in the museum’s collection. 

Please note that the museum will be closed for renovation including upgrades to its water system between May 1 through September 4, 2017.
