State College Pizza Favorites

 

Americans love their pizza. In fact, they eat approximately 100 acres of pizza every day--almost 350 slices per second! Did you know the highest grossing single-unit independent pizza parlor in the nation is Moose’s Tooth Pub and Pizzeria in Anchorage Alaska?  They sell $6 million in pizza every year! Pretty impressive, considering there are more than 61,000 pizzerias in the U.S. and they serve 3 billion pizzas every year. Of course, Italian food is also the most popular ethnic food in America.  At #StockerSubaru, our team loves pizza, and we’re always talking about which pizza is the best in State College.  

Yes, there are lots of great pizzerias in State College. Hey, it’s a college town, right?  But here are some of our favorites.

Yes, there are other things to order off the menu, but don’t bother. Their pizza is absolutely terrific.  They use the freshest ingredients and the sauce is perfecto.  Our favorite is the Giannetto, with margherita pepperoni, italian sausage and mushrooms. The wood-fired pizzas are available in 10”, 12” and 14”.  1229 S. Atherton.

Talk about great New York Style pizza! The dough here at this little mom-and-pop joint is good enough to eat on its own! With a thin, crispy crust, fresh ingredients and delicious sauce, you’ll be in pizza heaven.  A real favorite is the buffalo chicken pizza.  You have to try it to understand.  The desserts are incredible, too.  You’ll also love the friendly customer service. After a visit or two, they’ll even remember what kind of pizza you prefer! You can order by the slice or the pie.  222 W. Beaver Avenue.

While there are several locations in town, we love the one at 253 Benner Pike because they have a full kitchen and also offer other Italian offerings.  The pizza is solid, with fresh ingredients, and lots to choose from. This is our favorite sauce in town, too.  If you like New York Style pizza, add this one to your list of places to check out. While it’s not the coolest ambiance, the food rocks.  And we love the fluffy garlic rolls there, too. You will not be disappointed by this local favorite.
