Subaru’s new three-row crossover SUV has officially been named the Ascent. The Ascent made its debut at the 2017 New York Auto Show, alongside the redesigned 2018 Subaru Crosstrek and updated 2018 Subaru Outback. While the Ascent is still technically a concept, prototypes do exist. The Ascent will go on sale next year, most likely as a 2019 model. Learn more at #StockerSubaru, your State College car dealer. We also invite you to come test drive one of the many Subaru models we have in our showroom.
Features
The Ascent will be powered by a new turbocharged 2.4 liter four-cylinder engine with direction injection and all-wheel drive. Three rows of seating inside and a 7-passenger configuration with second-row captain's chairs will be available. The 2019 Ascent features a 117-inch wheelbase, which is about 9 inches longer than the current Outback. The Ascent's overall length, bumper to bumper, will be 198 inches. Subaru's last 7-seater, the Tribeca, was discontinued in 2014.
Built in the U.S.
Subaru said that the new model will be built at the automaker's Lafayette, Indiana plant, joining the production facility of the Impreza, Legacy and Outback. The Ascent will also be built on Subaru's universal platform architecture, with a longer wheelbase.
