Subaru Rally Driver Travis Pastrana Sets Hillclimb Record

 

His name as an action sports icon will remind you of the world's first double backflip on a motorcycle, the modern day circus called Nitro Circus, or one of many other daredevil adventures he has done. Travis Pastrana is the pinnacle of action sports and today he can be found racing rally cars for Team Subaru across the world. On Monday July 10th #TravisPastrana raced up Mt.Washington in the annual hillclimb event. In his Subaru WRX STI rally car, Pastrana drove 7.6 miles to the summit in a record time of 5 minutes 44.72 seconds. This time smashed the old record (previously held by Subaru teammate David Higgins set in 2014) by a whopping 24 seconds. 

"I can't say enough how fun these cars are to drive, and thank Subaru for providing one to me. I hope this record can stand for a little while," said Pastrana just minutes after finishing his celebration. 

Mt. Washington has a longstanding tradition of racing up to the 6,288 ft summit of this New Jersey mountain. Since 1904, drivers have been pushing their cars up the mountain in one of America’s oldest motorsports events. This year, Pastrana drove his 600 HP four cylinder turbocharged Subaru WRX STI. Of course a highly modified vehicle. This victory represents countless hours of hard work by Subaru specialists in the racing development team and by Mr. Pastrana also.
