New Pegula Ice Arena Offers Public Skating & More

 

Whether you’re an ice hockey fan or if you just like to skate, the Pegula Ice Arena is for you. Public Skating sessions are offered throughout the week and are open to all ages and skill levels. Our Stocker Subaru staff loves skating in the big arena.

 

Pegula Ice Arena features two ice surfaces: a main rink that is home to Penn State's varsity hockey programs, and a community rink.  The main arena seats 5,782 fans and the community rink seats 300 fans. The facility is open for public use approximately 360 days per year.

 

#PegulaIceArena hosts other on-ice events, including ice shows and National Hockey League and American Hockey League exhibition games. The first NHL exhibition game at the arena was held in September 2016 and featured  Pegula's Buffalo Sabres playing Minnesota Wild.

 

The main ice arena features a main competition ice arena. The facility also includes a practice rink, locker rooms, offices and player areas. The facility was 100% privately funded as part of the $100 million gift, the largest in the university's history. The goal of the project was to provide a new facility for the men's and women's ice hockey programs as they advanced to the NCAA Division I level and provide an appropriate facility for Division I games.
